Aadesh Goshala: A Sanctuary for Indigenous Breeds
The Miraj Group has always stood by its commitment to initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and social well-being. Among its numerous projects, the group’s dedication to animal welfare shines through its development of two Goshalas near Nathdwara. These Goshalas provide a safe and nurturing environment for over 1,800 animals, including cows, bulls, and calves. Through its efforts, Miraj Group not only ensures ethical care but also upholds traditional Indian values of respect and reverence toward these sacred animals.
Established in 2000, the Aadesh Goshala is the first of Miraj Group's animal care initiatives, located in Rabcha, near Nathdwara. Spread over 25 bighas of land, this Goshala houses a total of 1,300 animals, including a variety of indigenous breeds such as Gir, Red Sindhi, Sahiwal, and Hallikar. These breeds are renowned for their durability and high-quality milk production, making them integral to India's rural economy.
Out of the 1,300 animals, 92 are male, of which 31 are calves. These calves are nurtured with utmost care, ensuring they grow into healthy bulls. The remaining male animals consist of mature bulls that are crucial to maintaining the ecosystem within the Goshala. Additionally, the cows in Aadesh Goshala receive a balanced diet of green fodder, grains, and nutritional supplements to ensure optimal health.
The Goshala provides ample space for the animals to roam freely, reducing stress and promoting physical well-being. Veterinary care is always on hand, with regular health check-ups and medical attention available for any ailing animals.
Goshala Near Railmangra: Rescuing Bulls, Protecting Lives
In 2018, Miraj Group expanded its efforts in animal welfare by establishing a second Goshala near Railmangra. This facility spans 9.68 acres of land and shelters 500 animals. A primary focus of this Goshala is the rescue of male cattle, with 350 male animals being housed here. This initiative was undertaken to protect bulls, many of whom were at risk of slaughter, and provide them with a secure environment. The remaining 150 animals in the Railmangra Goshala are cows, all of whom receive the same level of care and attention as their counterparts in Aadesh Goshala.
Both of Miraj Group's Goshalas prioritize sustainability and ethical animal care. The animals are fed a nutritious diet, which includes natural fodder and grains. To further support their health, the Goshalas have in-house veterinary teams that regularly monitor the animals for diseases and provide vaccinations to prevent outbreaks.
One of the standout features of these Goshalas is their commitment to sustainable agricultural practices. The cow dung produced by the animals is converted into organic compost, which is then used to fertilize local farmland. This eco-friendly approach not only reduces the environmental impact of the Goshalas but also supports local farmers by providing them with natural, high-quality fertilizers for their crops.
